West Ham closed the window with two loan defenders. Left-back Adama Boiro joins from Athletic Club until the end of the season with an option to buy, the Basque club confirming it receives a fixed fee for the loan. Centre-back Morato arrives on loan from Nottingham Forest. Boiro is the ninth signing of West Ham's summer.

Boiro, 24, made 45 appearances for Athletic, six of them in last season's Champions League. Born in Senegal and raised in Pamplona, he came through at Osasuna before moving to Bilbao in 2024. He is the replacement for El Hadji Malick Diouf, sold to Brentford earlier in the window. "I like the challenge that's in front of us here," Boiro said. "This is a club with ambition and an objective to get promoted, and I think my mentality, my desire and my hard work will help my team-mates and the club achieve that."

The paperwork was finished while the first team were playing. West Ham beat Wolves 4-2 at London Stadium on deadline night: Divine Mukasa scored twice (33 and 53 minutes), Jarrod Bowen converted a penalty on 40 and Konstantinos Mavropanos added the fourth on 64, with Marshall Munetsi and a Mavropanos own goal replying for Wolves. It was West Ham's first win since relegation and the first defeat for Wolves under César Peixoto. "We all know it was much-needed, this win," said Nuno Espírito Santo.

The deadline-night business rounds off a summer that also brought Arne Engels from Celtic for a Championship-record fee and Joël Piroe on loan from Leeds. Diouf, Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes went the other way — full details on the done deals page.
